Today we went shopping for lots of healthy food. We have a pretty healthy diet anyway, but this is just refining us more. We let Maura pick her favorite fruits and veggies to have for meals and snacks. I noticed a small step forward as we were getting ready to go to the store. Maura received a blue back-pack with a special bear when we left the hospital. His name is Rufus and he has diabetes, too. Well, Maura noticed in the back-pack was a special pocket that is insulated and fits insulin and a glucometer. She came to me and said we should pack her shots and finger pricker, in case we were out too long. I was encouraged by that. She hates the shots yet rationally understands and is thankful for them because she feels so much better. She also understand that without insulin, eventually diabetics get very sick and die.
We are thankful to be home, all together again. Today has been a good day, a rainy afternoon, some house clean up and just contentment of soul, seeing the beauty in a healthy little girl.
